We commence this DEVAR TORAH by focusing our attention upon the title of the parashat. The title of the Torah portion is "VAYISHLACH". The Hebrew transliteration is interpreted to mean "SENT". The portion begins with the scenario of YA'AQOB expressing his attitude even toward his brother who was at one point seeking to kill him, but his character is that of a HOST SOUL, "Then Jacob sent angels ahead of him to Esau his brother to the land of Seir, the field of Edom. He charged them, saying: "Thus shall you say, 'To my lord, to Esau, so said your servant Jacob: I have sojourned with Laban and have lingered until now. I have acquired oxen and donkeys, flocks, servants, and maidservants and I am sending to tell my lord to find favor in your eyes.'" Gen. 32:4-6. From the perspective of MISHKHAN DAVID we are able to discern the PATH that our forefather was on, "Then Jacob said, "God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac; HASHEM Who said to me, 'Return to your land and to your relatives and I will do good with you' - I have been diminished by all the kindnesses and by all the truth that You have done Your servant; for with my staff I crossed this Jordan and now I have become two camps." 10:11. When we look at how he was diminished it was by way of the EGO. The EGO is something that will be expanded over time simply because the ONE Who created man created us to be RECEIVERS. In our will to receive we are aided by the UNIVERSE itself in fulfilling our desire to receive. In the human conscious experience we go through different levels of desire. These desires grow as we mature consciously into the next desire. We continue to become filled up until we want something else in life. These desires can be charted from basic desires to higher desires. These are in order from FOOD/SEX/SHELTER, to WEALTH, to POWER, and to KNOWLEDGE. Once these are fulfilled in your lifetime then your vessel is big enough to have G-d pour Himself into you, because the next and last desire is SPIRITUALITY where this desire is to be ONE WITH THE CREATOR. In the case of YA'AQOB he was in the desire to become ONE WITH THE CREATOR. In this desire is where nothing satisfies but more and more of G-D. At this point you come into the realization that at your very BEING is ECHAD. The very souls that we have is G-D. At the lower levels of the soul is the animal nature of man but it is still apart of G-d. At the HIGHER LEVELS OF THE SOUL is the YECHIDAH where there is LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF DEATH. When we say LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF DEATH we mean that the physical body is going to manifest the CREATOR in our physical bodies. This is the SUPERNAL INTENTION of the Holy Blessed One of Israel. Making these SPIRITUAL ATTAINMENTS are essential in our Ascension into LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF DEATH, "Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until the break of dawn. When he perceived that he could not overcome him, he struck the socket of his hip; so Jacob's hip-socket was dislocated as he wrestled with him. Then he said, "Let me go, for dawn has broken." And he said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me." He said to him, "What is your name?" He replied, "Jacob". He said, "No longer will it be said that your name is Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with the Divine and man and have overcome." Genesis 32:25-29. This was a LEVEL OF SPIRITUAL ATTAINMENT that was reached and the Being that wrestled him was apart of the UPPER FORCES. These types of Beings helps us to see how it is possible to Ascend into PHYSICAL IMMORTALITY.

�The confrontation between the brothers is recorded to illustrate how G_d sent an angel to save his servant from the hand of a stronger enemy. Furthermore, it shows that Jacob did not rely on his own righteousness, but strove mightily to ensure his safety through practical measures. Indeed, our Sages saw�the textbook of Jewish behavior in this exile, and, accordingly, we should follow his (Jacob�s) example by making a threefold preparation in our struggles with Esau�s descendants: prayer, gifts (appeasement), and battle (Ramban).� Banach

Jacob�s meeting with Esau was without incident because of Jacob�s obedience, his teachings and the strategies he had learned. Literally the word shalom means whole; perfect, unimpaired. Jacob arrived INTACT physically-having recovered from the injury to his hip; INTACT financially � although he had showered a lavish gift upon Esau; and INTACT in his learning � having forgotten nothing while in Laban�s house (the teachings of Shem who taught him what our father Abraham taught). �Jacob arrived INTACT at the city of Shechem which is in the land of Canaan, upon his arriving from Paddan-aram, and he encamped before the city. He bought the parcel of land upon which he pitched his tent from the children of Hamor, Shechem�s father, for one hundred kesitahs. He set up an altar there and proclaimed, �G_d, the G_d of Israel.� Genesis 33:18-20 Tanach. He had reached the point of the heart of Israel!
My teacher, Rebbe Moshe ben Avraham teaches us that there are systems in this world that we have to go through successfully in order to reach the point of the heart of Israel. Jacob (Israel), in going through all the circumstances that happened to him came out �intact� � or knowing who he is and what he is to do (purpose).
Rebbe Moshe teaches us that the knowledge/education of who we are has to be presented to those who are awakening to the CAUSE of Echad (G_d).
May we, as Jacob (Israel), present ourselves INTACT as Israel did, after having undergone the pressures that cause us to become AM ISRAEL!!!
