We commence this D’var Torah by placing our attention on the name of the parashat. The name of the parashat is KORACH. KORACH is a descendant of The Tribe of Levi. The tribe of Levi contain those who would be committed to the HOLY WORK or to the Ministry. The Sidrah begins with illustrating how KORACH was the leader of a rebellion against the DIVINE LEADERSHIP appointed by Echad Himself. The Nation of Israel was set up like a Theocracy where all positions of Authority are appointed by the SUPERNAL, “ For neither from sunrise nor from sunset, nor from the wilderness comes greatness. For God is the Judge – He lowers this one and raises that one.” Psalms. 75:7-8. We see the mechanics in those verses. Authority is given for that person to MAXIMIZE POTENTIAL. KORACH and company exercised SELF PROMOTION, the EGO is lowered once it self promotes, “ How have you fallen from the heavens, O glowing morning star; you have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of nations? You had said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; higher than the stars I’d God I shall raise my throne; I will sit at the Mountain of Meeting, on the northern side; I will ascend over the tops of the clouds; I will liken myself to the Most High!” But to the netherworld have you been lowered, to the bottom of the pit!”. Isaiah.14:12-15. The rebellion caused disunity between the people instead of the DIVINE UNITY it needed to display. Wet have to return to a COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS the Psalmist describes it from this perspective, “ A song of ascents, by David, Behold, how good and how pleasant is the dwelling of brothers, moreover, in unity . Like the precious oil upon the head running down upon the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down over his garments, so the dew of Hermon descends upon the mountains of Zion, for there HASHEM has commanded the blessing. May there be life forever.” Psalms.133:1-3. LIFE WITHOUT END is the blessing once this DIVINE UNITY is made manifest. Don’t move against Divine purpose. A great leader will humble himself when there is opposition, “ Moshe heard and fell on his face.”Num.16:4. There are three characteristics of a Great leader: Righteousness, Victory, & Humility. Protocol is dealing with levels of Authority. In order to build the right connections within a family structure there has to be the recognition of the levels of authority. Korach was apart of the family of Moses and Aaron. He didn’t respect or recognize the authority as a result he fell victim to self promotion. He wanted to do the work of the KOHANIM which the work of Levi and the KOHANIM can not be mixed, “ Moses said to Korach, “Hear now, O offspring of Levi: Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has segregated you from the assembly of Israel to draw you near to Himself, to perform the Tabernacle of HASHEM, and to stand before the assembly to minister to them? And He drew you near, and all your brethren, the offspring of Levi, with you – yet you seek priesthood as well! Therefore, you and your entire assembly that are joining together are against HASHEM!” Num.16: 8-11. The Levites were in charge of aiding the priesthood in their duties but was not allowed to handle the Holy things. This shows us that purpose never changes. For the desire of power can cause someone to promote themselves which is Egotistical. The ego is opposite from the Most High and since we are in a world that is filled with egotistical ideas the righteous will Ascend into COLLECTIVE instead of individual where the ego is at. Once there is a Divine encounter with Echad there will be no pursuit of egotistical things because the only desire that will arise is the desire to be One with G-d, that is a yearning for spirituality. This desire will cause for the things that can satisfy the ego to become less and less desirable. Once this path is revealed then a community of people with the same desire will be necessary for the ones making this Ascension. There will be a need to break away from those who have no desire for G-d, “ HASHEM spoke to Moss and Aaron, saying, “Separate yourselves from amid this assembly, and I shall destroy them in an instant!” verse 20,21. Those who you associate with determine your destiny. The Psalmist wrote, “ One who walks with the wise will grow wise, but the companion of fools will be broken.” Psalms. 13:20. We will do well to follow Spiritual Protocol and focus on not self promotion, but CORRECTING oneself.
